Atterro a Christchurch nella mattinata,dopo aver assistito dall'aereo allo spettacolo delle alpi di south island. Veramente impressionante. Sembra di sorvolare le nostre si alpi, con la differenza che non si vedono insediamenti umani. La popolazione di south island e' solo un milione!! In una superfice pari a meta' italia...Poi da christchurch sono andato a Methven, il villaggio a mezz'ora da Mt. Hutt, in foto. Sullo sfondo si puo' vedere canterbury plain e se guardate bene, l'oceano pacifico! Le piste qua sono ben battute ma non ben segnalate. Il tempo e' molto variabile. La neve e' abbastanza secca, e l'altitudine e' da 1400 a 2100 metri circa. Per arrivare su c'e' la strada bianca come in Turchia. Gli snowboarders sono la maggioranza!!

I've seen the southern alps from the airplane...impressive. They're a lot. It appears to be flying over our alps, but u realise they aren't as there are no human settlements...south island counts only one million people, on a surface half of italy's. Magic. From Christchurch, i moved to Methven, Mt.Hutt base village. The photo refers to the top of mount hutt slopes, altitude 2100. The lowest point is 1400m, and the slopes are well groomed but not very well signalized. There is a vast majority of snowboarders, two half pipes and a permanent snow park. The road is unsealed, like in Turkyie...Good wheater, the snow is dry enuff.
