Accomodation.

For all three countries I'll refer to the Lonely Planet guide while on the go, as I usually do if my route changes or I have to face an unexpected event. Travel is like marriage, the more you think you can control it, the more you can't.
  • Russia
Moscow won't be a problem at all, as I will be staying at a friend's place both the first two days and the last week of the trip. Along the way, I'll be mostly on the train, for about 15 days. On my stops, I plan to try to contact local Hospitality Club members, that are eager to help me, if not hosting me directly, to find a cheap accomodation. This will be done during this summer, when I'll be sending off e-mails to each member I'll find along the way. Here are some examples:
Perm, Ulan Ude , Irkutsk, Vladimir, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk,
If HC won't be satisfactory, then I'll try with the International Youth Hostel Federation affiliated hostels, here's is their webpage.

  • Mongolia
Similar strategy for Ulaanbaatar, which will be my only stop in the country. Check the HC members there Ulaanbaatar.
Here is another possibility Hostel World web page for Mongolia, where as you can see there are plenty of hostels to choose from.

  • China
In China I will stop only in Beijing and Harbin so I'll be trying to get in touch with these HC members. Beijing, Harbin.
In addition, I have a friend who worked in the Italian Embassy in Beijing for a year, and he will be able to hook me up with some accomodation. Furthermore, the above mentioned IYHF has affiliated hostels in China too. Check their page in China.
